thoughts of a good friend

playing, writing, making something new
because new have value
wondering about how family will react to the actual me
berg or jon or jonathan
-i really don't know

but dave has found distraction that i don't understand
not the value of innovation...
perhaps the value of recognition
i can't be sure,
but if kerouac goes crazy than i think dave does too

Hi Berg... This is Dave...I wrote this thing in the box but it doesn't have anything to do with me or you or our friendship or your poem or anything...I just wanted to write it in the box so here it is...
"In the Salinger biography I browsed through this afternoon, I read that he wrote most of 'Seymour an Introduction,' in the offices of the New Yorker. Strangely, he recieved no one into his writing room except a college student with an intern position at the New Yorker at that time... and the only thing that the student had to say about Salinger was that no matter how busy he was with his writing, he would always have time for a cigarette or coffee break." Maybe this is some kind of analogy of our friendship but I can't tell how. Can you?

i think it is an analogy of us...but i won't be trite by saying that it's like me and you who share our writing and music and also always have time for a cigarette or coffe break. i feel that if i went into explaining all that it would bore probably everybody.

are you always salinger and i the intern or do we take turns as salinger depending on who's work is being shared?
